The gameplay in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 once again is based on two main modes. The first is a fighting game, which takes on the most popular characters created by Masashi'ego Kishimoto and fight the three-dimensional arenas. Players have the choice of most of the characters from the manga cards. Each ninja has a different style of fighting, and its own range of extremely spectacular special attacks.

Apart from anything unfettered fighting between any characters in the game also features a story mode. This is where players can explore the universe of Naruto and take part in the most famous battles of the cards known manga. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 will tell the story of the invasion until the nine-tailed Leaf Village (in the manga and anime presented as a flashback). Gamers will be able to incorporate, among others, in the Third Hokage, who fights with the Kyuubi and the Fourth Hokage becoming Tobi'ego opposite.
